Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Joins SAGE Tuition RewardsSaint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Indiana’s oldest Catholic college, has become the 21st private college in the state to join the SAGE Tuition Rewards consortium. SMWC’s unique educational philosophy stresses an exploration of spirituality, a respect for diversity and effecting positive change in a spirit of service and social responsibility.

Founded in 1840 by the 8th U.S. saint, Mother Theodore Guerin, SMWC is the only Catholic college in Terre Haute and its surrounding area. A vibrant community filled with history and tradition located on a beautiful 67-acre wooded campus, SMWC is committed to educating the whole person and embraces people of all faith backgrounds in an atmosphere of inclusion.

Dedicated to educating and empowering women for 175 years, SWMC began admitting men in 2015. An 11:1 student-faculty ratio enables 97% of all classes with fewer than 20 students. The nearly 700 undergraduates can choose from among 50 academic programs. Nursing is the fastest-growing focus; top majors include business administration, education, human services, music therapy and psychology. SMWC boasts the only equine program in Indiana.

Two equestrian squads, Hunt Seat and Western, are among the 10 athletic teams. The campus is home to 20 active student organizations, theatre and musical performances, art exhibits and campus ministry. 89 Catholic colleges now participate in Tuition Rewards.
