Fisk University Joins Tuition Rewards

Fisk University Joins Tuition RewardsFisk University, a historically black university and the oldest institution of higher learning in Nashville, has joined the SAGE Scholars Private College & University Enrollment Consortium. Ranked #1 in the nation among historically black college and universities by Forbes Magazine, Fisk is the 6th historically black college and 9th Tennessee independent college to join Tuition Rewards®.

Founded in 1866, Fisk is a national attraction for talented students. The average SAT combined score for entering students is 1,622, approximately 125 points above the U.S. average. Fisk has graduated more African Americans who go on to earn PhDs in the natural sciences than any other U.S. college. Fisk is among top ten U.S. institutions awarding master’s degrees in physics to U.S. citizens of any ethnic background. 61% percent of Fisk students enter graduate or professional school within one year of graduation, well above the national average (23%).

Committed to cultivating leaders and scholars, Fisk’s mission is to produce graduates with the integrity and intellect required for substantive contributions to society. Biology is the most popular major, followed by business, psychology, physics and chemistry. A Master’s-to-Ph.D. “bridge program” in physics, astronomy and materials science is offered in conjunction with nearby Vanderbilt University; in five years, students can earn a Fisk B.S. degree and a Vanderbilt MBA degree.

From its earliest days, Fisk has played a leadership role in the education of African-Americans. Fisk's vibrant campus life helps students develop leadership skills, character and discipline. There are more than 50 student groups and organizations on campus; the number keeps expanding because students are encouraged to start new clubs and organizations every year.
