Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design Profile
Preparing students for passage into professional careers, the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is Wisconsin's only four-year, private college of visual art and design. We believe in the power of art and design to not merely reflect the world but to change it. MIAD is where passion finds purpose.
MIAD's faculty consists of more than 100 artists, designer and scholars teaching 740 students. The campus is located in Milwaukee's official arts district, bordered by the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. It’s one of the largest, safest and most comprehensive art and design environments in the U.S.
There is a gritty energy here as we work, create, tear down, start over, fail, succeed, fail again, triumph and transition from being purely passionate to being passionate professionals. We build off of one another, collaborate and solve problems together. We connect in meaningful ways to the community and help make our neighborhood and world a better place.
We offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture + Design and New Studio Practice: Fine Arts. We offer a mobility program that allows students to attend 33 other AICAD schools for a semester… or a New York studio program… or exchange programs in China, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Poland.
Independent study, work study and internship opportunities abound. Our Marquette connection allows MIAD students access to humanities and sciences classes, the library, health care, intramural sports and health club facilities.
