Member College Profile
Elmhurst College (IL), founded in 1871, has a long history of preparing students for lifetimes of professional achievement. Elmhurst offers its 2,400 traditional undergraduates a choice of more than 50 majors, including 15 pre-professional programs. An honors program provides additional opportunities for especially motivated, talented and curious students.
All classes at Elmhurst are taught by professors, not teaching assistants. The average class has 19 students; the student-to-faculty ratio - 13 to 1 - is among the best in higher education. Three academic centers devoted to professional practice help students explore career options, find a calling, land a great internship and turn dreams into a working reality. Students get involved in more than 100 activities, from theatre to intramurals to the mock trial team to 18 varsity sports.
The 38-acre Elmhurst campus is a registered arboretum boasting more than 600 varieties of trees and shrubs. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Elmhurst is located in a quiet suburb that ranked No. 1 in a Chicago Magazine survey of the region's "best places to live." Downtown Chicago is a 30-minute train ride away.
