Southern Vermont College

Southern Vermont College, a small, private, liberal arts college located on 370 acres in historic Bennington, offers its 500 students a transformative living and learning experience. We call it Affordable Excellence.

It is 22 career-enhancing programs of study, including nursing, business and criminal justice. It is faculty committed to student success -- who put teaching and advising first. It is a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, allowing for smaller classes – an average 16 per class. It is a vibrant and active community beyond the classroom, with 10 NCAA Division III sports, over 20 active clubs and organizations, community service and an array of special programming.

Affordable Excellence is all of this and more at a cost significantly less than many private colleges -- and comparable to many state institutions. SVC provides academic career development and internship opportunities, with support for students with learning differences.

A diverse student body comes from 22 states and five countries. Approximately 17% of students identify as belonging to a racial or ethnic non-majority group. 82% of SVC graduates have job or placements in graduate school one year after graduation.
