Founded in 1869, Chatham University is a fully coed institution with an enrollment of over 2,200 students and over 60 undergraduate and graduate programs in our areas of excellence: sustainability; health & wellness; business & communications; and the arts & sciences. Chatham is the alma mater of environmental icon Rachel Carson (Class of '29), and is recognized as a leader in the field of sustainability, having been selected as one of the Top 50 Green Colleges by The Princeton Review; ranked in the top five nationally for sustainability achievements in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System™ (STARS); and mentioned in a 2012 Forbes article as one of the places "contributing to Pittsburgh's transformation into a destination for green living."

Founded in 1869, Chatham University is a coed university with a women’s college as its historic heart. Chatham University provides students with a solid education built upon strong academics, public leadership and global perception. Chatham’s park-like 35 acre campus is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The University’s 2,200 students have easy access to Pittsburgh’s dynamic career, cultural, and entertainment opportunities and can share in the educational and social offerings of the other nine area universities; such as the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

The University houses three distinctive Colleges: Chatham College for Women is one of the nation’s oldest colleges for women. The College for Graduate Studies offers women and men both masters and doctoral programs. The College for Continuing and Professional Studies provides online and hybrid undergraduate and graduate degree programs for women and men.
